Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina is the current President of the African Development Bank who was previously Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture. The World Food Prize

award was given to him in recognition of his role in expanding food production in Nigeria, and introducing initiatives to increase credit facilities to small scale farmers across Africa, amongst others. His policies have been identified as expanding Nigeria’s food production by 21 million metric tons, and attracting $5.6 billion in private sector investments in agriculture. Read more here
